Touch is communicative: it connects us – with ourselves, with others, with the world around us. In physics, touch describes the proximity of two bodies that allows the transfer of mechanical forces between them. The atoms that make up our world cannot actually touch each other directly. Yet, we ourselves are often touched and can touch others, not least through dance.

In her new choreographic work «Touch Through», Zurich-based choreographer Lea Moro explores touch in an era of technological and me- dia transformation. How can we experience and reimagine touch in an increasingly digitised and distanced world? What does it still mean to us today? Together with an intergenerational ensemble of professional dancers, amateurs, and a choir director, Moro invites the audience to be touched – by everyday gestures, by movement, and by the expressive power of the voice. After all, touch always arises through encounter, through moving towards or away from one another, through proximity and distance. Touch, too, is political: it negotiates intimacy, boundaries, consent, and bodily autonomy. «Touch Through» opens up a powerful and tender space where the fundamental human need to touch and be touched becomes tangible – beyond the tactile – through voice, dance, sensation, and emotion.
